Tawe Guild of Weavers, Spinners & Dyers

The Tawe Guild of Weavers, Spinners and Dyers was established in 1981. It now has a permanent home in the Cross Community Centre, Pontardawe with two studios housing equipment and materials for the use of Guild members and one general meeting room. The Guild encourages the development of the three intrinsic skills amongst its members. However, cross crafting is a natural off-shoot, considering the varied backgrounds of our membership, so that we encompass a wide range of other fibre / textile crafts including felting, quilting, knitting, crochet, embroidery etc. in both traditional and modern formats.

An important remit of the Guild is to take our skills to the public. This involves exhibiting and demonstrating at local events and encouraging participation. Our annual summer exhibition is held at Craig-y-Nos Country Park. The Guild is also an ever open door to new members keen to learn and develop the skills we have to offer.
