I took a Foundation course in art when I left school in 1977, but put everything on hold when I started work, though I always kept my hand in with drawing and sketching as a hobby. For many years my favourite style was the classic panel sequence comic strip, a once regular feature of many newspapers and magazines, but now sadly outmoded and rarely found.
However, I did draw the monthly cartoon strip ‘Alwyn’s almanac’ for the community magazine based in Ystradgynlais from 2004 till 2007. Shortly after this, I started painting, largely self taught. Having tried a variety of mediums I settled on acrylics, which although not always a popular choice, I have found offer great versatility. I live in Cimla in Neath, and work in Swansea as a bus driver.
